Neutron Capture Therapy and Nuclear Medicine
The Joint Research Symposium aims to foster interdisciplinary discussions on developments in precision oncology, molecular imaging, and related interdisciplinary approaches. The event will feature a series of talks covering the latest (pre)-clinical advancements in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), molecular imaging techniques, radiopharmaceutical production, non-invasive tumour assessments, and innovative drug delivery systems. These meetings seek to bring together chemists, medical physicists, medical doctors, and radiotherapy experts to exchange ideas, share research progress, and lay the groundwork for impactful collaboration projects. The facility tours would give the delegation a deeper understanding of Norwegian research interests and facilities, thereby fostering collaborative research opportunities.
Time: Thursday, August 14, 12:15 PM
Location: Department of Chemistry, Realfagbygget, UiB
Speaker: Prof. Chun-Yi Wu
Chair: Prof. Magne Olav Sydnes
Molecular imaging has emerged as a powerful tool not only for visualizing biological processes in real time, but also for guiding and assessing targeted therapies, a concept at the heart of theranostics. This presentation will explore how molecular imaging technologies facilitate the precise identification of disease-specific targets, enable patient stratification, and allow real-time monitoring of treatment response. Special emphasis will be placed on the applications in radionuclide therapy and boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), where imaging reveals the biodistribution of therapeutic agents and optimizes treatment planning and personalization.
